Tuesday's Bible Study, January 19, 2021 - Last Man Standing

 Greetings Disciplined Runners,

Tuesday's message admonishes us to discipline our bodies to withstand the testing of our faith in upcoming days.  Are we listening to the Holy Spirit's daily leading?

God Bless!

  • We have an advantage over Peter in that we have Holy Spirit living on the inside of us to lead, guide and direct our steps if we choose to listen to Him
  • Over the past few months the Spirit of Jesus (Holy Spirit) has been speaking.  Irregardless of the speaker or the title of the message, there have been common themes woven throughout each message.
    • be on fire again, return to our first love
    • spend time in the Word and in prayer to know Jesus
    • put our focus back on God
    • fight for intimacy with Christ
      • fight distractions
      • fight our selfish desires
    • the love we receive is not for us to keep to ourselves bu give to others
    • the Kingdom of God
      • it's within us so engage in it
      • light vs. darkness
    • our life will display light without our having to speak
  • Time for the church to mature in the things of God

Reflections
  • Peter forgot that Jesus had told him he would deny Him three times.  Are we listening to what Holy Spirit has been speaking to us lately or have we, like Peter, forgotten what He has spoken?
  • Was Peter's action of cutting off the soldier's ear a result of not having prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus instructed?

 Key Takeaway for the Body
  • Engage daily in the disciplines of Christianity ie. scripture reading, worship and prayer to equip (mature) us for the days ahead
